Here's a follow up discussion question to my last one...A lot of us mentioned Sally Field/Clementine as one of our favorite guest stars. For me it was because of her history with Pete, her chemistry with both of the boys, and her lovely personality. We never got a chance to see more of her, partially because of her schedule and I think also because of Pete's death. But the two episodes she was in gave us a few clues as to her relationship with the boys...Seemed like they were the perfect little menage a trois...or were they just friends? Do you think Clem had a preference for one or the other? More specifically, who do you see Clementine having a relationship with (Heyes, Kid, both, or none)?

In my mind she loved both of them and couldn't decide which one to be with. So I think originally she probably played a bit on both sides of the fence. Then (maybe my view is skewed by the second Peteless episode) I think she started to lean more towards Kid. I just think that she and Kid would've made a spectacular couple after that little stint as husband and wife. Which is funny because all during the first episode I'm so rooting for Heyes and her to get togehter, even though I know Pete thought of her as a little sister from their days on Gidget.

Oh well, maybe this question is more complicated than I thought...Anyway, what do you guys think?

Ah, maybe this will give me the kick in the butt to go back to writing on the proposed threesome I had started...which was going to be long, and now has languished for a while.

I always thought she never could decide between the two. In the late '70s and early '80s I used to put myself to sleep nights with a long running story where Clem married Kid for the last name, but it was very much a threesome, and she had children by both Heyes and the Kid. That is not what the fic I was writing was going to be about, however.

The thing is, Clem really twists them around, holding that photo over their heads, which really isn't a very nice thing to do. And since (of course) they look just like the do currently, when was the picture supposed to be taken? How many years before? They were obviously already wanted at the time--how'd she get them to pose with her?

Forgot to add--as a former theatrical costumer, I love that Clementine actually wears correct period clothing, unlike some of the generic western dresses other guest stars wear. Clem wears 'percher' hats on her head (those tiny hats worn at an angle, like in the icon) and bustles on her skirts. Nicely 1880 style.

I sorta always thought the same - she can't decide between them.

I was bothered by the blackmail also - on the one hand, you wouldn't do that to someone you love. But on the other hand, if she's as shifty as they are .....

Of course, if they had a threesome, sometimes the guys would get together without Clem ...

Agreeing with everyone else, I don't think Clem could have chosen between them any better than I could! *g* I think their joint history made it so that the only way either of the guys could have comfortably had a long-term, monogamous relationship with Clem would be if something happened to the other one, and even then... I'm not sure.

I do think they probably forgave and forgot the blackmail incident, though, once they realized that she really only did it to save her father. :)

And there is NO WAY that any of us *koff koff* would ever kill off Heyes or Curry in a fic!

Yeah, I'm not sure Clem would decide on the survivor even then -- she'd probably miss the other one so much that being with him would just remind her of how empty that space beside him was now.

I vote for three way Clem fic!!

I really like Sally Field. I did not like Clem or that ep, for precisely the reasons that others have mentioned. You do not blackmail your friends. That just made her a user, to me, someone they smiled at and hugged and maybe would screw, but would never turn their backs on. Her character was quite dislikeable to me, which is a shame because Sally Field is cool.

I always had the idea that Gidget secretly got it on with her "cubed" brother in law when that lethargic sister of hers was gone - honestly, the lack of chemistry between her and Pete ... Pete and Sally were good together though.

Agreed - granted, sis was as square as Pete's character,so in that way they were a good, if boring, fit, but I really enjoyed the ep where Pete was going to "study" Gidget's friends so he tried to fit in (in that lovely tight sleeveless T and pants) and she decided he was almost cute. :-)
