A 'hello' and a little gif...

Hi all! I've been a member for a while, but I've been very shy about de-lurking. But! I just recently got my Season Two/Season Three dvd set, have been watching Season Two episodes again for the first time since I was a little kid, and I'm even more in love with Heyes and Curry than ever before, so I thought it might be time to jump in. :)

I'm a slash fan at heart, but I also love and appreciate just the pure friendship of these guys, so I enjoy fanworks both slash-oriented and gen in nature. Basically, I just can't get enough of them in any form! As sort of an introduction to me and my ASandJ thoughts/memories, I have an old post and mini-pic spam (from about two years ago when I tried - and failed, lol - to suck people from my flist into the show) here: If there was one old fandom I could make bigger, I'd choose... Alias Smith & Jones. Hands down.



Rewatching a Season One ep, 'The 5th Victim', I hit rewind about a dozen times on my favorite bit - the scene where the sheriff is asking Heyes where his friend was when he was shot. Curry gives Heyes this look and with that little bit of silent communication, a still groggy and slightly out-of-it Heyes realizes what he needs to say, that his friend was in front of him. When the sheriff and Mr. Carlson step away and begin discussing the situation, it's like the Kid and Heyes are in their own little world made up of just the two of them, and the looks and smiles they exchange say it all. I've never made a gif before - this is my very first - so excuse the poor quality, but I just wanted to condense that scene down to something I can pull up and look at when I need a bit of warm and fuzzy:




So, anyway - Hi, Hi! I'm really hoping to have something to contribute to this great little fandom soon - hopefully fanart? ♥

HEEE! I loved reading your memories of the guys on your page (and also that you're a Starsky and Hutch fan, which is the main one I write in). And your gif gift is amazing--exactly right. Especially since I have no idea how to make one of those.

Oh, I love S&H. ♥ I would probably be more heavily into it, fandom and all, if I had more than one season on dvd. Time to add to my dvd collection again... I was just so beyond thrilled when I saw that the rest of AS&J was available on dvd!

It's been so quiet around here lately

It's such a shame that one of the best fandoms out there (imo) is so small and quiet. I've dabbled in a lot of different ones - Smallville, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Merlin, etc. - and I don't think there are any characters I love quite as much as I love Heyes and the Kid. :)

I adore Kid and Heyes, as well. They were my second fandom and the first I started writing stories in, when I was 14. And I haven't stopped for (ahem) forty years!

I finally had a chance to read your crossover, and wow! What an absolute treat! My favorite two pairings, probably of all time, together in one story and they were all so wonderfully in character - I could 'see' every one of Heyes' smiles and Kid's grins, I could 'hear' Starsky's and Hutch's voices so clearly. Even Kyle was perfectly in character (tobacco chewing and all, lol). I really enjoyed the appearance of other characters' ancestors as well and loved the idea that everyone was interconnected, that the people who were important to them met again and again throughout time. You somehow managed to make this idea that should be implausible, work so logically and feel so right. Quite a feat!

I'm not registered at that archive so I couldn't leave a review there and I couldn't find the story at your LJ, but I just had to let you know how very much I enjoyed this story. ♥

Awww! Thank you so much, you've made my day, maybe my week. ;-D It always makes me most happy when people can see the characterization in my stories. that's my ultimate goal.

I think I posted that story on this list about a year or so ago? Because it was written for Christmas of '09.

Actually, fandom for ASJ is HUGE! There are loads of websites/message boards devoted to ASJ, Heyes & Kid, Pete, and Ben. There are several additional websites devoted solely to ASJ fanfiction. Just do a google search for "Alias+Smith+and+Jones fanfiction" and you'll get over 1,000 hits. Some of the more popular sites are: The ASJ Collection, ASJ Fan Fiction on WetPaint, ASJ Fan fiction forum on Aimoo, Alias Smith and Jones Fan Fiction, Alias Smith and Jones stories by Drena Hills, K & H Literary Society, and the ASJ sections on Fanficiton.net and WWOMB. Most of them aren't slash but WWOMB has a whole section just for ASJ slash. Enjoy!

Another Sam and Dean fan? :D I think Sam and Dean are the only characters that have come really, really close to making me love them as much as I've always loved Heyes and the Kid. Starsky and Hutch were always up there near the top, too, but there was just something about Sam and Dean that struck a nerve and it took me forever to figure out that it might have been the similarities to Heyes and Curry (even after Kripke kept repeatedly comparing the show to old westerns in style and theme). :)

Just for fun and my own satisfaction, I want to make gifs of all my little favorite AS&J moments. Love those boys so much! ♥

Same here! I still love them, but that early dynamic that I loved so much is all but gone now. I loved the nurturing Dean of S1 and S2 - he was almost motherly with Sam, really. Sometimes I see glimpses of that in the way Heyes is with Kid, but for me, their relationship is even better because Kid steps up and looks out for Heyes, too; it's not one-sided at all. Loved the way, in 'The 5th Victim', Kid very sensibly tells Heyes that they won't make a decision about whether or not to ride out the next day until after Heyes has seen the doctor, and Heyes just nods and trusts the Kid to take care of it. Omg, I love them so much, lol

Heyes' smiles for Kid are so epic! I've never seen anybody manage to put quite that much affection into a smile before. I mean, just look at them there in your icon... best duo that has ever graced my television. ♥

I was just rewatching The Fifth Victim myself and that is precisely my favorite bit too - the way Heyes, even wounded, immediately senses the nature of the question and how to answer defensively, the way there's absolutely no question of the trust between them when everyone leaves the room... yup. One of my favorite bits in the whole series.

This! That it's-us-against-the-world thing they have has always been one of the things I love best about their story. Watching 'Night of the Red Dog' the other day, I loved the fact that each man in the gold expedition chose where to pan and each man was responsible for choosing his own hiding place for his gold... except for SmithandJones. They're a single, cohesive unit in everything! :)

Howdy! I was a lurker once myself, not that long ago, so I know how hard it can be, but I'm glad you made the leap! What a lovely gif of a favorite scene.

Squeeing is contagious, you know, so thanks for sharing yours! I look forward to seeing more. ASJ is my first and forever fandom, and even though I dabble in several, I always come back to my gorgeous cowboys. I've got a couple of fic WIPs in the hopper that I hope to post soon (soon being a relative term, of course).
