"Who's that fancy pants?" Kid asked, his nose wrinkling in disgust.

Heyes raised an eyebrow. "The dapper fellow with the ivory-handled cane? That's Sir Reginald Fastbottom," Heyes said in his best awful British accent, mocking the man leaving the hotel's dining room.

Kid sipped his coffee and ate the last bite of ham from his plate. Christmas dinner! Besides the ham, he enjoyed the fried potatoes, beans with pork cracklings, and three biscuits with huckleberry jam. "He didn't like the ambiance of this fine establishment?"

Heyes laughed. "Guess not. Asked for something called plum pudding. When O'Brien told him he could have applle pie, his highness huffed off, complainin' about the frontier and other no account things in the uncivilized West."

"Not very 'good will towards men'.

"I've got good will towards men," Heyes responded, his eyes twinkling. "Well, towards a certain man anyway."

Kid smiled into his coffee cup. "I'm about ready for that Christmas present, Heyes. Care to join me up in the room? Got the stockings hung and I heard Santa's making an appearance shortly. If you're a good little boy, he might even bring you a gift." Kid waggled his eyebrows. "Ho. Ho. Ho."

Heyes stood up so fast he almost busted a foot. "Come then, Kid. Got me some celebrating to do, and you're the Christmas pudding for me."

Laughing, the men went up to their room to share a glass of whiskey and some Christmas cheer of their own making.
