The thing with the old woman was the fact that she was female -- back then it was just not done for a man or woman to show flesh to the opposite sex! All those scenes with the Kid going shirtless in front of women is just not correct. The etiquette of the time was laughable to us today -- you had to say "limb" instead of "leg" and "cow" instead of "bull!"
