On Dreamwidth there's a panfandom challenge that aims to produce fics longer than 1,000 words, based on a Mills & Boon/Harlequin novel summary.

All fandoms and pairings are allowed and the fest runs from March 15th to April 14th 2013.
Many fills will be humorous, but serious and angsty fills are also encouraged.

Hey pards, guess what? I've been podficced! The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] themusecalliope recorded a reading of In the Moment as part of the Informal Twitter Podfic Exchange. If you've a mind to listen, you can find the particulars at AO3: http://archiveofourown.org/works/636427

I've been thinking -- if Pete had lived, what movies would he have starred in? I challenge everyone to come up with at least one movie, tell which part he would have played, and why that would have resulted in such a fantastically better movie than the one we ended up seeing because of the glaring absence of Pete!

Here are some helpful lists:

Famous Movies of the 70's - Pete would have been in his 30's

Famous Movies of the 80's - Pete would have been in his 40's, at his prime

Famous Movies of the 90's - Pete would have been in his 50's, still going strong

Famous Movies of the 2000's - Pete would have been in his 60's, perfect for those handsome older-man roles

There's a new ABC-owned channel called Cozi that's showing AS&J. I was looking at the channel listing and stumbled upon "The McCreedy Bust". It's not wide screen or anything but ti's still fun to watch on broadcast TV.

They're also showing The Virginian so I'll have to keep an eye out for Pete and Ben's episodes.

I've really been wanting to dive into ASJ lately--and it got me thinking. Which cities and states did they travel to? Sometimes we have a specific mention, sometimes it is very vague. The two most wanted outlaws in the west travel vast distances between episodes--and sometimes during the episode.

Wyoming (Return to Devil's Hole)

San Francisco, Ca--more than once, but at least when they visit Silky O'Sullivan

Some place in the California Sierra mountains --Night of the Red Dog, because they are panning for gold. Or was it done in any other state at that time?

Mexico--Santa Marta

Do we get any clues as to where Red Gap, Hadleyburg, Diablo Station and Junction City are?

Which border state does McCreedy live in? Arizona?

I think I recall mention of New Mexico, but can't remember which episode.

I've been missing Kid and Heyes of late--and pondering which could be even loosely construed as a Christmas episode. Obviously, since they were supposedly holed up in the cabin for nearly six months in Night of the Red Dog, December 25th must have occurred during that time, but the men were playing too much poker to notice--or were they?

Any theories or facts about where Devil's Hole is supposed to be in relation to Cheyenne? If not I can do what I want and that's great, but if there's anything resembling canon I like to go with that. Thanks for any help!

So, I will shortly be posting my ASJ modern-day AU.

I found some awesome pictures to use to illustrate my story, including some young-looking Heyes and Curry pics from http://www.asjcollection.com/.

Is it okay to use them? The website says:

Please treat their items with respect. This non-profit site is purely a fan's tribute to the show and its actors. No copyright damage is intended.

Download anything that you wish, but use it in a personal non-profit manner that minimizes hurt to others. Please do NOT sell files downloaded from the website or items made from these files, use them on other sites, or remote link (aka hot link) to them.

Using them this way won't violate that. Right?
[identity profile] hutchynstarsk.livejournal.com
I'm nearly finished writing and editing a modern AU about Heyes and Curry. I wondered if anyone wanted to read it over before I post it.

Heyes and Curry 2000
by Allie

It's over 20,000 words and gen. Perhaps the most important information is that it's not at all an exact 1-to-1 AU. The characters should seem familiar, but they are younger and work at a travelling circus and are younger than the show. They aren't cousins, orphans, etc., and have never met before. Basically the story could be original fic if not for a few things that are very Heyes and Curry.

If you don't mind that and want to beta, let me know. :)
